We’d be lying if we were to say we don’t get anxious or worried about different aspects of our lives. We’re always focused on what our purpose is, why this or that is happening, and society is displaying this false image of what it’s like to have “fame” or “recognition” with social media.
Think about this, over 18.1% of Americans suffer with some sort of anxiety disorder (adaa.org). In an instant we can pull out our smartphones and instantly see what our friends & family are up to, we can find information, learn new things, we live in an INSTANTANEOUS society.
I found myself thinking I have to have that new jacket or go look the way this person looks from my instagram feed so he/she finds me more attractive.
We are all given a unique purpose. Our Personalities, our Character, our Hearts, Interests, etc. All go hand in hand with the purpose God gave us. Don’t get sidetracked or distracted with your purpose by finding it in your phone. Look up and live…
“I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted.” Job 42:2
We all struggle with our own demons in life. There are good days and then there’s not so good days. We have our reasons for why things don’t go according to plan and sometimes it can just plain suck.
It’s in those moments that we learn from our mistakes, we grow and become better versions of ourselves. If you have a vision and a bump in the road comes along, don’t let that upset the entire dream.
We all have the same 86,400 seconds in a day, don’t let 60 seconds of those ruin your day. ❤️
Those late nights and early mornings tend to be something that most just don’t want to do. Going to bed at 11PM and waking up at 5am, We often find ourselves giving up on things because It’s going to be difficult and we might have to stretch ourselves thinner than we are used to. It’s a mindset game, you have to want it in your mind for your body to follow. Our bodies are accessories to our minds.
As of late I’ve been waking up early every morning. 5am/7am 6 days a week and It’s helped so much with how busy I am with my time of day and MAKING the time to get my stuff done. The things I want to work on because those things truly matter to me. I love waking up to the “Chase” or the “Journey” if you will.
I’m making the time for what I love, and I encourage you to do the same.
We can't lose sight
A Lot of the time we set these huge goals for ourselves at the beginning of the new year and we lose our sight. We lose our Drive, our Hunger, our Vision. What have you accomplished so far in 2018? Were the goals you set at the beginning of the year achieved or on the verge of completion?
I highly encourage you to reflect on your life right now if you are unhappy with your life. If it could be better, change it. If you don't like where you're at, change it. Let's make the rest of 2018 a season of "change it" instead of "oh well".
Perception is everything to me. It's how you look at it, not how it is but your perspective on situations can change how you begin to "see".
I'd begin by saying I try to be a positive person. I'm not in a rough spot by any means. I try to have a grateful spirit as much as I possibly can. I think in today's society we see different mental illnesses such as depression taking more and more victims as time continues. People are suffering, and now more than ever before we're surrounded with false pictures of what you need to be happy.
"I have to look like Him/Her to be attractive."
"My success is defined by the amount of money I have."
"If you don't like someone cut them out of your life, pick and choose who you love."
You see we're moving farther and farther away from Gods Perfect Example of Love. God teaches us to Love All, to Be Forgiving, to Be Grateful, to Be Kind, to not let the things of this world bring us down when He is here to lift us up. In my recent post, I was talking about how I deleted social media and when I wanted to get on to post or reply to comments/DM's I'd have to redownload the app. Well, I also started waking up before the sun comes up each and every day. By starting my day early, not waking up and immediately going to my phone, I'm looking at each day as a gift. A gift to wake up with a grateful spirit, connecting with my family more and more, starting my day with God, and so much more "Healthy Habits".
It's how you love others that truly matters, that in itself will change your entire outlook
I think what I'm trying to get at here is there is a serious issue in today's society that is slipping in the cracks. We're disconnected more than ever in a generation of connection. We're spending more time perfecting our feeds rather than perfecting our relationships with others. We're more focused on what clothes we can buy next instead of buying a pair of clothes for a child in need. We're depressed, Anxious, Out of tune with our emotions and how to control them. We need a wake-up call on who we really are...
This week I decided to delete all my social media off of my phone. Every app (Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, Facebook) the whole nine yards no longer exists on my phone now and it’s been quite the refresh.
Now, many people have done this before myself included where we want to go on a “Social Media Fast”. But this time is different. Working so much my free time is limited so let’s just say whatever free time I do have I find it very valuable to myself and try my best to use it up in a productive way. My passions, hobbies, projects all take up time like most do. The problem here is coming to the realization of how much we spend time looking at a screen in our hands rather than looking up at the real world. I’m not hating on the social media world, I think it can be very beneficial and resourceful for those who use it as such but if we’re being completely honest most don’t.
I found myself subconsciously comparing my life to others, counting the videos I would watch as “productive” when really I was just wasting my time with empty fulfillment. Social media was taking time from God and my Faith away from me, my passions were taking a spot on the back burner, all of these hints I was neglecting without even realizing it.
So needless to say I’ve been waking up early, starting my day WITHOUT social media which is a beautiful thing when you can wake up and not immediately check your phone. I still use social media, just when I want to post or maybe check messages and such I re-download the apps. They don’t exist on my phone, the social media fast has been insanely clearing for my mentality and mind. So I encourage you to restore your thoughts and actions, and to “Look Up” at the real world.
You won’t be disappointed
We often find ourselves looking at life through a drowning lense. We look at the brokenness of our world. All the hurt, All the bad, All the not so good. Life in itself can be challenging but I am an absolute believer that we can define our situations by how we look at them. Often, when something bad happens we start looking at things negatively and vice versa with positivity.
I am not oblivious to the fact that truly terrible things happen to us. Being Sad, Upset, Angry, those are all healthy emotions to cope with those things that break us down. It's how you let those situations define your actions and outlook that truly matters.
you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you'll start having positive results."
So many people are Unhappy, Depressed, and think they've Lost in life. It's not about what other people in your life think you should be doing, where you should be going to school, or what job you should be working.
We get held back trying to appeal to the worlds viewpoint on how we should be living. Let me tell you something, that won't ever make you happy with yourself.
One of the most eye-opening trips. Alaska 2018 was an absolute blast being able to explore Gods most beautiful mountains and spreading the Gospel to the broken-hearted youth of Anchorage, Alaska.
Jeremiah 29:11 was our verse of the week for the kids to memorize:
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
We gave this verse to the kids at the beginning of our trip and the theme of hope and future was insanely present for the week we were there. The kids we visited and hung out with for the whole week we were able to teach lessons, played games and heard their stories, We gave Love, Showed Care, and most of all gave them a friend who genuinely cared for them. We gave them someone to share hope with and someone to trust. I ache for these kids hearts. Through prayer and service, we can change the broken hearted 💛
